Mangaldai   :  The address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Nation to avoid public gathering and observe ‘Janta Curfew’ on Sunday as a means of preventive measure against spreading of COVID 19 seems to have a significant impact on the people of Darrang district as few of the government offices which normally found crowded turned almost deserted since Friday. Deputy Commissioner office and District Transport Office are two such government establishments where two different pictures before the PM address on Thursday and after his address could be witnessed on last couple of days. Talking to this correspondent on Saturday, District Transport Officer, Kumar Sanjib Krishna said, ” People use to come to our office for different reasons including driving licence, deposit of MV tax, registration etc. But in last two days the office has almost turned deserted. Perhaps people responding to the appeal made by our Prime Minister on Thursday night.” Meanwhile hand washing arrangements and checking in the entrance have already been made in District Transport Office besides  Deputy Commissioner’s office and few other regular busy district offices at Mangaldai.
