Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’ from Dhyan Chand stadium at India Gate on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
He also administered pledge for national integration and unity to hundreds of participants. Mr Modi also released a commemorative postage stamp on the Iron Man.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said nation must never forget Sardar Patel and his mantra for country’s unity. He said every citizen dreams of a strong and self reliant nation which can be materialised by taking lessons from the life of Sardar Patel. He said Patel stood behind Mahatma Gandhi during freedom struggle.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu recalled the contribution of Sardar Patel towards nation building. Home Minister Rajnath Singh was also present on the occasion.
