  • Police in Maharashtra’s Sangli district launch ‘No Mask, No Ride’ campaign to contain Coronavirus

    In Maharashtra’s Sangli district, the police have launched a campaign, ‘No Mask, No Ride’ to contain the spread of Coronavirus in the region. The campaign is part of the state government’s My Family, My Responsibility’ which was launched on 15th of this month to control the surging pandemic.


    Our correspondent reports, with rapid rise of Covid 19 cases in Sangli district, the administration has issued directives making mask mandatory while travelling in any kind of public transport including buses and rickshaws.


    According to the directive issued by the police, anybody not wearing a mask will not be allowed to board the public transport.

    Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ashok Virkar sought people’s cooperation in making the campaign successful.



    He also warned of punitive actions against those who are found to violate the order.


    Sangli district on Monday recorded 550 new Covid cases taking the total tally close to the 35,000 mark.



    The district also recorded 22 deaths in the same period taking the death toll to 1,309 so far. There are more than 7,700 active cases in the district.
