  • Pranab expresses serious concern over continuous violence in W Bengal

    The Union Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee has strongly criticised the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee for not responding to the Union Home Minister’s call to discuss law and order situation of the State.

    Reacting sharply, Mr. Mukherjee said in Kolkata on Moday that it is unfornutate that the Chief Minister is not getting time to go to Delhi to respond to the Home Minister’s invitation. The Finance Minister said that the attitude of the Chief Minister is also not acceptable.

    Expressing serious concern over the law and order situation in West Bengal, Mr. Mukherjee said that killing of people, violence and clashes are taking place every day in the State and the Administration has to take responsibility to stop all these things.

    AIR Kolkata Correspondent reports that the Union Minister, Mr. P. Chidambaram asked the Chief Minister to come to Delhi immediately to discuss law and order situation in West Bengal after recent killings at Netai village in Lalgarh in which seven people were died and several others injured.

    Meanwhile, in a letter to the Union Home Minister, Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee said that he will go to New Delhi on the third week of this month.
