Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Monday talked to BJP Parliamentary Party Chairman LK Advani and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj conveying the views of the Government on FDI and was requested that it convey its views at an all-party meeting.

BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad confirmed news reports that Mr Mukherjee had telephonic conversations with the leaders.

Prasad said the BJP leader in turn wanted smooth functioning of Parliament and hence said the Government take a position on the demand of political parties.

Pranab also spoke to CPIM leader Sitaram Yechury is understood to have told the Finance Minister that an all-party meeting be convened before the next sitting of Parliament on Wednesday during which the parties could be informed about the decision.
