  • A Special CBI Court at Mohali has awarded twelve years’ imprisonment to Arjuna Awardee wrestler and former Punjab Police DSP Jagdish Singh Bhola in a synthetic drug racket case. Bhola was held guilty in three of the seven cases registered against him in 2013. He was awarded 10 years and 2 years in the other two cases.

    All the three punishments would run concurrently out of which he has already served six years in jail. The court has also imposed a fine of 2.2 lakh rupees on him. The court had held him guilty along with 22 other accused including NRI Anoop Kahlon and Jagjit Singh Chahal.

    Bhola was arrested in November 2013 by Punjab Police from Ghanaur in Panipat in connection with 700 crore rupee synthetic drug racket. He had been dismissed from service in 2012 after his links with the drug racket were exposed.

    After his arrest police had busted 6000 crore rupee synthetic drug racket. It was later referred to CBI for investigation and Enforcement Directorate probed into the money trail parallel to investigating the agency.
