Kanpur: The Railways has suspended five senior officers and also transferred Divisional Railway Manager of Jhansi Division S K Agarwal in connection with train derailment in Kanpur.

According to North Central Railway spokesperson, five officers, including Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer ( carriage and Wagon), Divisional Engineer (line), Jhansi and three senior section engineers of Jhansi division have been suspended.

The spokesperson said the action has been taken in view of circumstantial evidence related to the accident. Meanwhile, Railway Safety Commissioner of Eastern Circle P K Acharya is investigating the accident and he is already in Kanpur.
