The republic day functions all across the Kashmir valley passed of peacefully. JKLF president Yasin malik along with a dozen supporters was taken in to custody by police as they tried to march towards lal chowk from nearby maisuma locality. Seven BJP activists were arrested as they made a vain bid to march to the Lal Chowk to hoist the national flag.

The main ceremonial function was held at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar where state Finance minster ABDUL RAHIM RATHER unfurled the national flag and took salute of the impressive parade. Amid high security a sizeable number of people attended the function. AIR srinagar correspondent reports that heavy security was deployed in lal chowk area.
