Mangaldai   : In a bid to mark the beginning of a new year with a positive difference way, the 1992 HSLC batch of alumni of Mangaldai Govt HS School offered public felicitation to the grass root  workers engaged in the cleanliness of the Mangaldai town. In this connection a public function was organised at the Mangaldai Bor Pukhuri Park premises on Tuesday, the first day of the new year where altogether sixty ‘safai’ workers under Mangaldai Municipal Board have been offered felicitation each with a letter of citation and a traditional gamosa as a recognition to their sincere service in keeping the town neat and clean. Several distinguished guests including Mangaldai Legislator Gurujyoti Das, Associate Professor of Sam Houston State University, USA, Dr Hiranya Kr Nath and Chairman Mangaldai Municipal Board Pratap Bordoloi attended the ceremony. In their address the speakers congratulated the safai workers for being feted and attributed their hard work round the clock in maintaining cleanliness of the township and the same time offered thanks for recognising the service of these underprivileged grass workers who are often ignored by the society. Earlier Manab Protim Das, Secretary of the alumni explained how the ex students group since the 2016 has been carrying out development activities in the town including plantation of saplings in the school campus and nurturing them, felicitation to the teachers of their tenure,donating a modern television set to local child care institution Kasturi Sishu Griha and donation of umbrellas to the poor girl students among others.
