  • Sajjan Kumar expected to surrender before authorities today

    Former Congress leader Sajjan Kumar is expected to surrender before the authorities today. Delhi High Court had sentenced Kumar to life in jail in one of the cases of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

    The court had also levied a fine of five lakh rupees on him and directed him to surrender by 31st December. The High Court turned down his request seeking one more month to surrender.

    Kumar has also approached the Supreme Court challenging his conviction and life imprisonment.

    The former Congress MP also appeared before the Patiala House Court for hearing in the second case related to the riots. The case was registered against him by the CBI on the recommendation of Nanavati Commission.
