In Jharkhand, suspected ultras have abducted a bank manager in the Palamau district. DIG (Palamau Range) Ravi Kant Dhan said that Anup Kumar Singh, the manager of the State Bank of India’s Panki branch, was going to Ranchi when suspected extremists abducted him near Salughati under Panki police station.

In neighbouring Bihar, six Maoists have been arrested in Aurangabad district in connection with the killing of five persons earlier this month. Acting on a tip-off, police raided their hideouts and nabbed them yesterday.
