  • Security Situations In Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Reviewed Prior Elections

    Guwahati: In order to review the security situation in Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh ahead the general elections, a high-level meeting had been held on Wednesday. According to Defence release, the meeting had been held by the Operation Group at Dinjan in upper Assam. Senior officers of the Army, Central Armed Police Forces and representatives of civil administration from the three states attended the meeting.The meeting discussed the ongoing preparations to ensure incident free conduct of polls. Officials analysed the possible security sensitivities and measures to enhance synergy between security forces operating in the region, read the release. Spear Corps Commander Lt. Gen Rajeev Sirohi, Joint Secretary North East, Home Ministry, Satyendra Garg, General Officer Commanding Dao Division, Maj Gen Rajendra Sachdev, ADGP (Security), Assam Harmeet Singh and IGP (Law & Order), Arunachal Pradesh Sagar Preet Hooda were also present at the meeting.With the Lok Sabha polls nearing, top officials of the police and the Army on Wednesday, March 27 reviewed the security scenario at least in three states of the northeast and analysed the threat perceptions, if any.

    The meeting was attended by Kohima-based defence PRO Colonel C Konwer, joint secretary of North East (MHA) Satyendra Garg, Maj Gen Rajendra Sachdev, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Dinjan headquarters of the Army, Spear Corps Commander, Lt Gen Rajeev Sirohi, Harmeet Singh, ADGP (Security), Assam and Sagar Preet Hooda, IGP (Law & Order) of Arunachal Pradesh. The meeting reviewed the overall security situation in the regions of Upper Assam, South Arunachal Pradesh & Nagaland and discussed the ongoing preparations to ensure incident-free conduct of upcoming parliament elections. Further, officials from all the states analysed the possible security sensitivities and measures to enhance synergy between security forces operating in the region. Meanwhile, the additional district magistrate of Sivasagar, Bidit Das, has promulgated a prohibitory order issued under Section 144 CrPC recently prohibiting movement of two-wheelers (read riding pillion) within Sivasagar district.
