Agriculture Minister Mr. Sharad Pawar was today assaulted by a youth at NDMC Centre in New Delhi. The Minister was assaulted on the issue of price rise.

Senior BJP leader S S Ahluwalia informed Rajya Sabha that the government should not shy away from holding a discussion on the issue.

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has condemned the attack on Agriculture Minister Mr. Sharad Pawar.

The Prime Minister Office’s spokesperson told AIR that Dr.Singh has spoken to Mr. Pawar following the incident and enquired about his well being.

AIR correspondent reports that one mentally sick youth today assaulted Mr. Pawar during a function in New Delhi today.
