For the first time two iconic landmarks in Hyderabad will be decked in red lights on February 19th & 20th  to raise awareness a goal to raise awareness of the risks associated with heart disease and ways to prevent CVD.

The signature landmarks Chairminar and the Buddha Statue located at the picturesque Hussain Sagar Lake will turn the nearly crimson at 7 p.m. This is part of a series of initiatives Prevent India (www.preventindia.org) organizers have conceived this year which began with Art for Heart a painting contest to raise awareness about Heart Disease Risks in India where million people are coping with the disease and lose their lives almost every day.

Making the announcement Dr. Ramesh Babu, Founder of Prevent India and Managing Director of Medwin Hospitals said few people realize that heart disease is their No. 1 killer and are taking action to prevent it. But the good news is that heart disease can largely be prevented. For that reason, Prevent India by way of such events encourages people to improve their heart health while taking action to fight heart disease that takes millions of lives each year

Prevent India is an initiative by Medwin Heart Foundation started in 2009. This year the annual 2 day event will be held at Taj Deccan on 19th and 20th, 2011.

“This is our third year,” Dr. Ramesh said. Prevent India has taken off well. It is pretty encouraging when you compare it to other causes that have been around for many years. Support the Prevent India Campaign in fighting our Nation’s biggest killer by wearing RED on February 19 & 20th, 2011.
