    Kokrajhar: Six rebels belonging to  National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit(NDFB-S) including the Self Styled  Cultural Secretary and Deputy Finance Secretary were apprehended by security forces belonging Indian Army and Assam police from Ripu Reserve Forest Ride no. 5 near Ouxiguri village under Soraibil Border Outpost in Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district.
    The apprehended NDFB-S cadres were identified as Bahaigya Basumatary alias Belarwm (Self Styled  Cultural  ​​   Secretary and Deputy Finance Secretary of 39th Batch NDFB), Ranjolal Wary alias Gobla alias W Raithab of 42nd Batch, Rubiram Goyary alias G Rwmwgwmw of 40th Batch, Julesh Musharay alias M Jujilang of 42nd Batch, Sailen Borgoyary alias B Sibithao of 42nd Batch NDFB(S) and Rajesh Narzary alias N Railang of 42nd Batch NDFB(S).
    One M16 Assault Rifle, six 7.65 mm Factory Made pistols, twelve magazines, ammunition, medicines, rations, along with several other war like and administrative stores were recovered.
    Briefing media persons Col MK Jain and Gossaigaon SDPO  Produt Bora  Bhuyan said on receipt of reliable information about presence of NDFB(S) militants, a joint Operation was carried out by SIKH LI troops of Red Horns Division and Gossaigaon police and laid multiple ambushes in which the six rebels were nabbed.
    ​On further questioning, the apprehended cadres revealed the location of a temporary camp site close to the spot of apprehension where the arms and ammunition were recovered.
    These six militants belong to the handful of NDFB(S) cadres who continue to be active in the forested areas of BTAD and are evading the Security Forces.
    Out of the six cadres apprehended, three belong to Kokrajhar district while three are from Chirang district, the army official said.
    The apprehension of this group is a major setback to NDFB(S) activities in Kokrajhar district.  Due to hard living conditions, sustained pressure of Security Forces and lack of local support, most of the cadres are disillusioned and demoralised, the army official said.
