    Published on February 4, 2011

The Budget Session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Friday had a stormy start with the Opposition members raising slogans against the Mayawati government, disrupting Governor B L Joshi’s address to the joint session of the House.

As soon as the proceedings of the House started with the Governor’s address, the Opposition raised slogans to protest against price rise, corruption, law and order.

They also demanded immediate release of jailed MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya.

The Samajwadi Party members wore black clothes in protest and held placards in their hands with slogans like “pidit janata ki pukar jaldi jaye yed sarkar”and “bhrashtachar ka bolbala, mukhyamantri ka muh kala”.

Following din in the House, the Governor read only the first and the last line of his address and left the House.

Chief Minister Mayawati later condemned the behaviour of the Opposition and termed it as uncalled for.
