  • Students protest growing aggressive over Bill in Jorhat, burns CM’s effigy

    Jorhat : College students took out protest rally and demonstration throughout the main thoroughfare of the Jorhat city to scrap the Citizenship (amendment) Bill 2016 continues which is growing aggressive by the college and institutes students fraternity as the  students of Jorhat College storm the city of Jorhat carrying the effigy of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and performed the Funeral Rites in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in presence of security personnel as if it was performed in a tight security arrangement, which was followed by other protesting students from the Jorhat medical College, Princes of Wales Institute of Engineering and Technology, Industrial Training Institute, Jorhat Engineering College who also stormed the streets and the main thoroughfare of the Jorhat city, blocking the AT Road at the main entrance point in front of the DC’s office. As a result hundreds and hundreds of Assamese home bound people residing different parts of the world and Jorhat were stuck for several hours who have come for re-union with family and friends when the state is under boil over the most controversial amendment Bill for the past couple of days, said a protester from AJYCP
