  • Tamil Nadu reeling under incessant rains

    The coastal districts of Tamil Nadu have been experiencing incessant rains since three days. The Met department has predicted more rain for the next 24 hours due to the trough of low pressure extending from Southwest Bay of Bengal to west central Bay of Bengal.

    Rains in the coastal areas and in certain inward areas have increased inflow to the reservoirs in the state considerably.

    Holiday has been declared for educational institutions in nine districts due to rains. Normal life has been affected due to flooding in low lying areas Chennai. Cuddalore and Thondi in Ramanathapuram district registered 78 to 89 mms of rain in the past 24 hours.

    District administration has been asked to gear up to prevent eventualities. Chennai and suburban areas have also been experiencing continuous rain since Wednesday.
