  • Three hardcore poachers along with arms and ammunition nabbed by police from near Orang National Park in Assam’s Darrang district.

    Mangaldai   : Darrang Police in a significant breakthrough of their anti poaching operations surrounding the Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve has apprehended three poachers along with arms and ammunition in two separate incidents on Wednesday. In the first incident of wee hours a operational police team led by two lady officers DSP (HQ), Darrang Mamoni Hazarika and Sub Inspector Twinkle Goswami nabbed one hardcore poacher Jakir Hussain and on search of his house and campus at village Jaguar Chapori under Shyampur police station bordering Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve managed to recover two country made rifles and nine rounds of live rifle ammunition. In the other incident of the day an operational police team led by the officer in charge of Silbori police outpost Sub Inspector Niraj Alam Choudhury apprehended two poachers namely Jalaluddin of Harmoti and Nur Islam of Lamding under Hojai district while recovered a pistol besides four rounds of live cartridges.
