TN Assembly bye-election: AIADMK leads in Yercaud

In Tamil Nadu, ruling AIADMK candidate Saroja leads after eight rounds of counting by 24,614 votes in the Yercaud Assembly bye-election held last Wednesday. At the end of the eighth round of counting AIADMK candidate Saroja leads with 49,398 votes and DMK’s Maran has polled 24,614 votes. 1663 voters opted for NOTA till now.
Votes polled in EVMs are being counted at Salem CSI Polytechnic College counting centre. A record turnout of 90 per cent was registered for the bye-election. Eleven candidates including nine independents contested the election.
