Haflong : The torch relay of the 3^rd Khelo India Youth Games, 2020 reached Haflong today for which an event was organized by the Dima Hasao District Sport Officer at N L Daulagupu Sports Complex at 3:00 P.M. NCHAC Chief Executive Member, Debolal Gorlosa lit the torch and flagged off the relay in presence of NCHAC, Sports and Welfare Executive Member, Golonjoy Thaosen, Chairman, Haflong Municipal Board and NCJAC MAC, Manjit Naiding and Addl. Dy Commissioner Deepak Jidung.

Encouraging the youth present during the event CEM Gorlosa stressed on the importance of physical activities and sports in today’s world. Citing the example of renown sports persons from North East like Hema Das, Mary Kom and footballer from Dima Hasao like Baoringdao Bodo , Rakesh Pradhan and body builder Pranab Langthasa, he said that sports is equally important as studies for education which brings laurels to the person  as well as the place from where the person belongs

Eminent international sports personality in field of body building Pranab Langthasa was also present during the event. The government of Assam in collaboration with the Assam Olympic Association has organized a torch relay of the 3^rd Khelo India Youth Games, 2020, in all districts which was earlier launched by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at Guwahati   The objective of the torch relay is to disseminate the message of games throughout the state of Assam and to mobilize the support and active participation of all sections of society. The torch is being carried by 4 groups comprising of office bearers of Olympic Association, officials of sports & youth welfare dept Babul Dutta eminent sports personality Joel Bey, ex football player from karbi Anglong district.
