  • US asks Pakistan to target all militant groups without discrimination

    Published on September 16, 2016

United States has asked Pakistan to target all militant groups without discrimination including those groups, that target Pakistan’s senate-foreign-relationsneighbours and close all safe havens.

US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Richard Olson said in Washington that terrorism will not come to an end until Pakistan makes a decisive shift in its policy of tolerance towards externally focused groups.

He told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that Washington had conveyed Islamabad that there could be no peace in the region until the cross-border attacks stopped.

Olson said, U.S. would continue to support the India-Afghanistan relationship, including through the revival of a US-India-Afghanistan trilateral talks, which will take place next week on the margins of the UN General Assembly.

He said US welcomes India’s provision of training and non-lethal security assistance to Afghanistan and its significant development contributions over the past decade.
