New Delhi: In order to give wider coverage of Covid-19 vaccination to the vulnerable groups, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has issued directives to make special provisions for priority inoculation of persons with disabilities (PWD), poor, deprived and digitally challenged people by facilitating walk-in onsite enrolment for the immunisation programme.

Ensuring priority to PWD, digitally challenged and poor in the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine, arrangements will be made to enable onsite and hassle-free registration for the vaccination programme at the Common Service Centers across the state which will also in turn reduce the load on the Community Health Centers (CHCs) and will help in maintaining the social distancing norms.

“It is vital for persons with disabilities, chronically ill people, poor, deprived and digitally challenged to have access to the vaccine. They must be inoculated on priority,” said the CM.

Leading in terms of fully vaccinated people, Uttar Pradesh under the effective and visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been conducting the vaccination drive in a planned, organised manner and has administered 1,40,99,595 doses so far.

Under the Phase III of the vaccination programme, a total of 2,16,897 people aged above 18 have been provided the safety shield. Approx 50,000 doses were administered in the last 24 hours, alone.

With the state managing to flatten the curve and limiting the transmission of the deadly virus, the covid-19 situation in UP has been consistently improving as the number of active cases have drastically been reduced by more than one lakh between April 30 and May 12.

With a proactive and focused approach in handling the second wave of pandemic, CM Yogi’s covid-19 response has yet again become a masterclass in crisis leadership as effective implementation of the ‘Yogi Model’ has led to sharp decline in fresh covid cases.

Besides Vaccination, UP continues to conduct maximum Covid tests

Stepping up the preventive measures as per the target of ‘test, trace and treat’, the state has also emerged as a leader in terms of conducting maximum covid tests. A total of 4,36,51,487 covid tests have been done so far. As many as 2,45,286 samples were tested on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to ramp up RT PCR testing to 1.50 lakh per day. Earlier, it used to be one lakh per day.

The mass testing drive and door-to-door screening of people in around 97509 revenue villages of the state by the RRTs and the monitoring committees initiated by CM Yogi Adityanath also recently got acknowledged and was immensely appreciated by the World Health Organization.

The global health body valued the measures taken by the Yogi-led government in restricting the spread of COVID-19 in the rural pockets of the most populous state.
