The vehicular traffic on 270 Kms Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW-44) was suspended early morning today due to a massive landslide and sinking of the road at Dalwas.

Jammu Correspondent reports that the only all weather road connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country was closed early morning today due to landslide. According to Traffic Police, about 50 meters of road stretch has been badly affected.  

The movement of vehicles was immediately stopped at Udhampur and Qazigund and hundreds of vehicles, mostly those carrying essential commodities have been stranded on both ends of the blocked site. Men and machinery have been mobilised to the spot for the clearance of the debris and making the national highway traffic worthy. Traffic police authorities of NHW have advised commuters not to travel.
