  • We signed pact with railways for development in North East, says Bhutia

    JORHAT : We had signed pact with the Indian Railways which was earlier promised by LIC to fund one and the half lakh crore to the Railways for placing the infrastructure specially which is being utilized for development of Railways in North East to reach far off states like Mizoram, Tripura, Barak Valley, Arunachal Pradesh and because of this fund the connectivity has improved and already had started and that has been going on, which is also a significant role in spreading the message of Life Insurance among the masses for mobilizing the people’s money for nation building , which also offers Life Insurance Protection under group policies to below poverty line at subsidized rate s under social security group schemes like coverage of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Aam Admi Bima Yojana, informed N.T Bhutia, the senior divisional manager of Jorhat LIC Division that covers 10 districts of Upper Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland during a press interaction on the occasion of completion of 62 years which has been organized with a week long program along with the rest of the country here today.

     

    Briefing to the press NT Bhutia said LIC has been associated for nation-building since its inception in 1956which has been working for the protection to the person living below poverty line and marginally above poverty line. Till March 31st 2018 LIC had invested 912251 crore for Central Government securities along with 116015 crore for power, 1768 crore for irrigation, water supply and sewage, 56004 crore for road, port, bridges and railways which an amount of 258322 crore is the total investment in social sector while total investment as a whole is 1955274 crore which is an investment in both central, state and social sectors investment.

     

    Moreover LIC , Jorhat division has done  tremendously well till 2017-18 March  and to mention under which North East has four divisions, Jorhat, Guwahati, Silchar and Bongaigaon. While Jorhat covers 10 Upper Assam districts along with the state of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland . Out of these four divisions Jorhat division is considered as Mightiest Division having a bigger share of business and always is ahead than Guwahati division, while last year we procured 213233 policies which is 51.38 crore premium while this year 2018-19 we have been given target of 240000 policies along with 540000 premium out of which till August 31, 2018 we have already procured 76672 policies with 162.16 crore premium. Though we have expected to procure more than the target given to us instead of 240000 policies we expected to cover 3, 00,000 policies and expected to collect 650 crore instead of 550 crore by this division only, Bhutia further added.

     

    Others those who were present on  the occasion D. Goswami-the Marketing Manager, MK Subedar-Manager of sale, UP Deb- Manager of Sale among galaxy of senior official from the division that was held at the conference hall of the Jorhat division LIC Headquarter at Gar Ali Rajabari, Jorhat.
