  • Western Railway registers 10.50% growth in Passenger Earnings

    Western Railway has registered a growth of 10.50 percent in Passenger Earnings and more than 6 percent increase in long distance passengers’ during the December 2010.

    This increase is significant in view Gurjar agitation which has adversely affected the train services in Western Railway.

    The passenger earnings for the month of December- 2010 have been Rs. 231 crore against Rs. 209 crore for December, 2009. The non-suburban originating passenger for the month was 30.2 million against 28 million during December, 2009.

    AIR Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that the main reason for this increase was a huge holiday rush towards new tourist destinations in Gujarat.
