World famous tourist destination Ladakh today observed World Tourism Day with cleanliness drive in Leh and Kargil towns.

Ladakh Lieutenant Governor, R K Mathur flagged off the teams participating in cleanliness drive in Leh.

Speaking on the occasion, LG Mathur said that keeping in view the guidelines of Covid-19 pandemic, the UT administration would do whatever is possible to promote tourism in the region.

He expressed concerns about the adverse affect on the tourism sector due to the pandemic. 

He appreciated the Ladakh Tourism Department, Rural Development Department and other bodies for their initiative to celebrate the World Tourism Day with a cleanliness drive.

Earlier, Mr. Mathur handed over masks and sanitisers for the staff participating in the cleanliness drive in Leh town.

Commissioner/ Secretary Tourism Rigzin Samphel, officials of Tourism, Rural Development, Municipal Committee and members of Ladakh Tour Operators Association, Ladakh Guest houses and Hotels Association and other volunteers were present on the occasion.
