  • World Veterinary Day observed at Haflong

    Haflong  : Observing the World Veterinary Day, the A.H & Veterinary Department Haflong, Dima Hasao, Assam organised Free Antirabies Vaccination and Health Check up for Dogs at Sorkari Bagan, A.H. &Vety Department Campus on Saturday.

     

    The day’s program started with the lighting of lamp by Mr. T. T Daulagupu, Secretary to Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department and Dairy Development Department and planning officer of N.C Hills Autonomous Council.

     

    Mr. T. T Daulagupu, attended the programme as the chief guest while Dr. (Mrs.) L. Vaiphei (Tuolor) District Disease Surveillance Officer and District Immunization Officer, Dima Hasao attended as the guest of honour.

     

    Speaking on the occasion Daolagupu while appreciating the today’s initiative of department said earlier the performance of the department was not encouraging but now on the performance of the department has to be improved through such much needed programmes.

    Dr. (Mrs.) L. Vaiphei in her speech explained the importance of vaccination citing examples human death caused by rabies and appealed to the people to avail the opportunity being provided by the department.  More than hundred pet dogs were vaccinated under the supervision of Dr. Amit Phanglo and Dr. Titus Thiek and also provided with medicines free of cost.

    Earlier all the guests were felicitated by the officials of the A.H. &Vety Department. Dr B K Kakati, Dist Vety Officer in charge said the department would be organising such camps in remote areas of Dima Hasao to create awareness among the masses about proper vaccination since the theme of the World Veterinary Day was the ‘value of vaccination”.
