    Published on January 19, 2013

The Aid agency Oxfam says, the world’s richest one hundred people earned enough money last year, to end extreme poverty for the world’s poorest people, four times over. It said that in the last year, the net income of the one hundred richest people, was 240 billion dollars. In contrast, people in extreme poverty live on less than 1.25 US dollars per day, and the charity called on world leaders to commit to reducing inequality to levels last seen in 1990. Political and economic leaders from around the world will gather for four days at Davos from January 23. Oxfam’s briefing pointed out that the World Economic Forum’s own Global Risk Report rated inequality as one of the top global risks of 2013, something the IMF agrees with.
