  • 2006 Kozhikode twin blasts case: NIA Court pronounces Nasir, Shafaz guilty

    In Kerala, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court in Kochi on Thursday pronounced Thadiyentavida Nasir and Shafaz guilty in the 2006 Kozhikode twin blasts case. The court found them guilty of all offences charged against them. The NIA court acquitted two others, Halim and Abubacker Yusuf in connection with the case. Halim was given benefit of doubt by the court, while no evidence was found against Abubacker Yusuf.

    The NIA Court judge S Vijayakumar said the sentence will be pronounced on Friday and ordered the accused be sent to the Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail. The bomb blasts took place at the KSRTC and Mofussil bus stands at Kozhikode on March 3, 2006.

    Earlier in the day, a Division Bench of the Kerala High Court comprising Justice V Ramkumar and Justice P Q Barkat Ali vacated a stay on the Kozhikode Twin Blast case verdict.
