  • 21 st convocation ,Dibrugarh University is contributing to progress of Assam: Assam CM

    GUWAHATI : Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today attended the 21 st convocation of Dibrugarh University and addressed the students in presence of Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar and Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria at Dibrugarh University today. Addressing the students, Chief Minister Sarma said that convocation is the manifestation of the success of glorious chapter of one’s academic life. Congratulating the successful students on receiving their degrees, the Chief Minister said that Dibrugarh University is one of the leading universities not only in the State but in the country which is contributing to the enrichment of education and progress of the state.

    He also said that not only in academic excellence, the university has played its role towards promoting research in the state. Getting 25 patent in different research findings, shows the success of the university in the areas of research and development. The university has also contributed to the socio-economic and cultural development of the state. Featuring the university as one of the 76 educational institutions in the G-20 Presidency is indeed a testimony of the impressive journey of the university. The Chief Minister also said that Dibrugarh university has to sustain its role to propel the academic development of the state and take its academic journey to a greater height. Referring to the universities like Nalanda, Taxila that reflect the academic prowess of the country, the Chief Minister said that toeing line of the ancient universities, the State universities will have to maintain the streak to ensure progress of the state driven by education. Chief Minister Dr. Sarma said that State government has taken a series of steps for qualitative improvement of education in the state.

    He said that success should help the students to be mentally prepared to plunge into actions in life. He also said that successful youth can influence positive atmosphere of the state. The Chief Minister said that in the last two years, State has gained an identity in restoring peace and tranquillity in the state and strengthening them to put Assam in the robust growth trajectory. Now other states have started discussing about Assam. He said that in government employment, as a result of transparency and honesty brought in the appointment processes, youth of the state attained self-confidence. Stating about Gunotsav, the Chief Minister said that the recently declared results of the same, proved that education sector in the state has received a new momentum. Dr. Sarma also said that Dibrugarh University has immense potentials, as the State government will do everything possible with the help of the degree and diploma holders to use these potentials for the development of the state.

    Emphasizing on the importance of dreams, Dr. Sarma said that without having a big dream, students cannot move much forward. He also said that government is taking all possible steps for the empowerment of the students to enable them to be job creators and catalyse the development of the state.Wife of the Vice President Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar, Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli, VC Dibrugarh University Prof. Jiten Hazarika and a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
