Guwahati: The Assam Police on May 3 recovered a huge cache of illegal arms and ammunition in Assam’s Udalguri district. The investigating officer of Assam Police and CID suspect that the huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered could be linked to Pakistani terror groups. Acting on specific information, Udalguri police conducted a raid and recovered a huge cache of weapons this morning. Giving information about the recovery, Director General of Police G P Singh tweeted, “A huge cache of weapons recovered by Udalguri police. We are committed to free Assam from all illegal weapons.

However, the number of people arrested in connection with the seizure is yet to be ascertained. One person was detained with illegal arms and ammunition on April 30. The police, along with the joint effort of the locals, figured out how to trap and catch the man. The arrested person has been identified as Aminul Islam. Aminul was on his way to Silapathar from Arunachal Pradesh when he was arrested. When he got off a bus and was about to take another bus in the direction of Silapathar, he was allegedly detained. An SBBL rifle has been recovered from the arrested person. The rifle was to be towed from Navboicha in Lakhimpur. Meanwhile, action against the terror module is continuing in Assam. On Monday, the police arrested two more suspected terrorists. After the terrorist module was busted in Assam, the process of arresting terrorists continues here. Many terrorists have been arrested in the last few days. All of them had links with ABT and al-Qaeda. Apart from this, all these terrorists were also linked to regional madrasas. The Assam Police has conducted AQIS/AQIS operations since March this year. ABT. More than 46 people have been arrested. Police said all those arrested are Pakistani terror linkmen.
