Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat took a sortie in the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft, Tejas at Aero India show in Bengaluru today. Principal Scientific Adviser to the government, Professor Vijaya Raghavan also took the flight.

The flight comes a day after the Indian Air Force got Final Operational Clearance, FOC standard certification for Tejas from Defence Research and Development Organisation.

LCA Mark, I is designed, developed and produced by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. Initial Operational Clearance, IOC of the aircraft took place in the year 2013 and IOC standard Aircraft were inducted into IAF No. 45 Squadron, in July 2016. The IAF Squadron has since flown over 1500 sorties successfully on the Aircraft.
