    Guwahati : Secretariat employees of the Assam government joined the protest against the CAB. Employees of the Assam Secretariat have moved out of their offices in Dispur, Guwahati to join the people protesting against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill.There are widespread protests in Assam against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and clashes broke out on Wednesday between a large group of students and the police near the state secretariat. A large number of students from all directions were seen heading towards the secretariat. At the same time, another group reached Ganeshguri area from which the secretariat is just 500 meters away. The students broke the blocker on GS Road after which the police charged the lathi.Tear gas shells were also fired at the students, which the students picked up and threw at the policemen. Students said that many of them were injured in lathicharge. He said, “There is a barbaric government led by Sarbananda Sonowal. We will not come under any pressure until the cab is withdrawn.Apart from Guwahati, protesters clashed with police in Dibrugarh district and a journalist was injured in the stone pelting. According to reports, the employees gave up all their official work and took to the streets to join the protest against the bill in front of Dispur Secretariat. Set out on.It should be mentioned here that the situation in Assam is becoming more volatile by the minute as protesters turned violent, following which police and security forces resorted to lathicharge to disperse the angry mob. Police and security forces have also opened fire on the protesters. It has also been observed that the authorities have used water canon to disperse the angry mob.
