  • Bathou Mahasabha concluded in Kokrajhar

    Kokrajhar: The 26th foundation day of the All Bathou Mahasabha concluded today after two days programme at Bodofa Cultural Complex,  Chandamari in Kokrajhar.

    On the concluding day today, a mass prayers for world peace and harmony was held in the morning hour followed a colourful cultural rally which was flagged off by BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary. A kherai puja dance was also performed as part of the bathou puja at the venue.

    The Chief of BTC Hagrama Mohilary attended the Open Session as chief guest. In his speech Mohilary said spoke about the Bathou religion saying that Bathou is the oldest religion among the Bodos since time immemorial from the time of civilization of Bodo society. He said the world knows the Bodos as a worshiper of Bathou religion.

    Mohilary also assured necessary step for the development of bathou thansalis(worship place). He said he had come to know about the state govt of Assam policy of utilizing state fund  including “MLAs funds can be utilised for development of Satras in the state. “If that is true than we will also funds for development of Bathou religion and other religious place in BTAD, he said.

    In his speech, BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary called upon the Bathou Mahasabha to work for uplift of Bodo community and for peace and harmony. He also appealed the Bathou Mahasabha and the people to work for conservation of forest and wildlife.

    Munthu Mushahary, president of Dularai Bathou Goutum , Rajya Sabha Biswajit Daimary MP, BTC executive member Lwmsrao Daimary, Rajib Kumar Brahma, MLA Thaneswar Basumatary, ex-president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha and Padmashree awardee Dr Kameswar Brahma, ex-president of All Assam Tribal Sangha Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary were among those present in the open session as guests.
