    Guwahati:  The time has when the user of social media should become cautious. A message from Assam Police proved about the threat of Social Media. Assam Police warns citizens against new techniques used by Hackers.

    As per the information the Assam Police on their Facebook page have issued a circular warning the citizens about a new type of technique that hackers are now using for intruding a social media account. The Assam Police have asked people to be cautious on the issue and to spread awareness about tactics employed by hackers.

    Assam police also informed on their official page that they have warned and urged the social media users to take precautionary steps to avoid being a victim of social media theft and hacking.

    The post stated that there is a new group of hackers who will send a link in a message and will urge the user to open it. Once the user opens the link, the hackers get all the details required to hack that particular account. The hackers will thereafter post on the user’s wall and send messages to other users asking for money and other favors from the hacked account.

    The Assam Police in their post stated, “A new kind of Facebook fraud is going nowadays. In this case, you will receive a link in a message, if you click on it, a window will appear showing that you are logged out of your account and need to log in again with user id and password. If you enter your user ID and password, the unknown culprit will receive those, next thing you know your account password is changed.” [SIC]

    The post added, “The culprits will post on your wall or send messages to people in your friend list asking for money. Beware of such messages. Don’t enter your user ID and password in any window upon clicking that.”

    Assam police have urged the social media users in the state to be careful before opening any such links and sharing your user id and passwords in any unrecognized links.

    So all users of Social media should be cautious on this matter. Any kind of unknown link should be open in any circumstances.
