Mangaldai   : The 571st edition birth anniversary- “Tirobhav Tithi” of Srimanta Sankardeva has been observed in Darrang district on Tuesday along with the rest of the State. The birth anniversary of this great vaishnavite saint  has been observed centrally by the Darrang district chapter of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha at Chintagaon, Kalaigaon with a two day long variety of programmes. On the other hand all the one hundred fifty five primary branches under thirteen anchalik committees of the district body have observed the festival separately with a day long programme. The Mangaldai Nagar Primary Branch of the Sangha has also celebrated it in the premises of the Mangaldai Kendriya Naamghar with a variety of cultural and spiritual programmes. “Bhagawat Bhraman” a traditional procession carrying the holy book of vaishnavism namely ” The Bhagawat” on the head also marked the occasion among others. Earlier Kiron Saikia Bora, the president of the Nagar Prathamik chapter of the Sangha hoisted the organizational flag.
