The parliamentary panel examining the nuclear liability bill is likely to recommend an increase in the cap on damages.
The Nuclear Civil Liability Bill is slated to be tabled in Parliament on Wednesday.
Besides, a few amendments suggested by members of the Standing Committee on Science and Technology are also being incorporated in the Bill.
“Every issue raised by the members was discussed threadbare and amendments suggested by them are being considered,” Subbirami Reddy, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Science and Technology told reporters outside Parliament.
Hinting at the increase in the capping amount, Reddy said “I cannot divulge much but I can say that we have incorporated many suggestion in the Bill.”
He said, “We had total 24 meetings… all are being consulted including trade union leaders. The Bill is in the interest of the nation.”
