Haflong  : With the rest of the world, Merry Christmas is being celebrated throughout the district of  Dima Hasao  with great enthusiasm  from 24rth Midnight .

 

The celebration begins on 24th December and would be continued for two to three days in different part of the Dima Hasao. A large number of people of all ages gathered in the churches where a special prayer, Christmas Carols were performed on the day.

 

All most all the places like Muolhoi, Songpijang, Fiangpui, Lodi etc a great community feats was also organized wherein thousands of people from various caste, creed and religion took part

The churches were seen decorated with colourful lights, stars, Christmas trees and Santa Claus etc.

 

At Haflong the  churches like St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Synod Church, Baptist Church, Presbyterian Church, apart from other churches in Mulhoi, Songpijang and Fiangpui  celebrated the Christmas in a befitting manner .

 

Many Christians mark Christmas Day by attending special church services, spending time with family members, wearing new clothes and eating a festive meal. Some families exchange gifts or give small presents or sweets to children. Some also put up a nativity scene with clay figures or a Christmas tree. Christmas trees in India are usually imitation pine trees or branches of native trees or bushes.
