  • EAM Sushma Swaraj holds series of meetings with leaders in Kuwait

    External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today held series of meetings with leaders in Kuwait to strengthen bilateral relationship between the two countries.

    External Affairs Minister called on the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah this morning and discussed positive developments in bilateral ties between the two countries.

    While praising the role of Kuwait in the region, Sushma Swaraj also raised issues of concern to the Indian community.

    Later, Minister Swaraj called on Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Jabar Al Mubarak Al Hamad Al Sabah and discussed issues of bilateral concern and explored avenues for enhancing and further strengthening economic  and investment cooperation.

    She further also held delegation level talks with the  Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah.

    Ambassador K Jeeva Sagar accompanied Minister Swaraj for all the meetings. Last evening Sushma Swaraj had interacted with the Indian Community in Kuwait. She also paid floral tributes to the statue of Gandhiji at the Indian Embassy.

    India and Kuwait traditionally enjoy friendly relations, deep rooted in history and has stood the test of time. It is a reliable partner in India’s extended neighbourhood.

    Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj was on her maiden tour to the two Gulf countries of Qatar and Kuwait in a bid to enhance India’s engagement in the extended neighbourhood .
