Guwahati : Former Minister in the Mamata Banerjee government, who left the Trinamool Congress and joined the BJP, has returned to the party at a public meeting in Tripura. Banerjee joined the Trinamool Congress in the presence of party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in Agartala. Banerjee was inducted into the BJP’s National Executive Committee earlier this month.

“I felt that I could not accept the politics of hatred and divisive ideology propagated by the BJP,” Said Rajiv Banerjee. I cannot accept the anti-people policies of the BJP. Abhishek Banerjee today said BJP MLA Aashish Das and two other MLAs have joined the TMC.He said more BJP MLAs will join the TMC soon. All India Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee claimed in Agartala on Sunday that our party (Trinamool Congress) will win the 2023 assembly elections in Tripura and form the government. Banerjee promised that the BJP’s “misrule” in the state would be abolished after the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government was formed. Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, further said that our party will implement the bengal governance model here to take this north-eastern state on the path of development. He was addressing a public meeting at Rabindra Shatabdi Bhawan here. Here, he launched a scathing attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state.

Abhishek Banerjee said Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee will visit Tripura in December. She will address a huge rally at Swami Vivekananda Stadium. The TMC’s stand on Tripura is an indication that the party’s landslide victory in Bengal has boosted confidence that it will be able to perform the same in other states. Abhishek Banerjee targeted the BJP alleging that law and order has been destroyed and development has come to a standstill since the party came to power in Tripura. He termed all bjp’s election promises as “jumla” and claimed that despite being in power for more than three and a half years, the saffron party has not been able to fulfil its promises.

The AITC General Secretary said, “He says that BJP is a double engine government but if we compare the report card of the West Bengal government and the BJP government in Tripura and at the Centre, there is no development anywhere (in Tripura and at the Centre). He spoke of fielding TMC candidates in all the seats for the upcoming body elections in the state. He said the TMC will field its candidates in all the seats for the upcoming assembly elections in the state including agartala municipal council scheduled for November 25. Banerjee said that in order to oust the BJP from power, we will field our candidates in all the seats in the 2023 assembly elections also, otherwise tripura will also have a situation like Afghanistan.
