  • Govt mulls Gujjars’ offer of conditional talks

    Published on January 1, 2011

In Rajasthan, the deadlock over third round of talks between the Government and Gujjar leaders continues. Gujjar Leader Col. Kirodi Singh Bainsla is demanding that senior Gujjar Congress leaders give guarantee that this time the government would fulfill its commitment to give five per cent reservation to them. He asserted that only after receiving this guarantee, the Gujjar delegation will leave for Jaipur to hold talks.

In wake of this condition, a meeting was held at the residence of Power Minister Jitendra Singh, who is also a member of Group of Ministers constituted on reservation issue. After the meeting Dr. Jitendra Singh said the outcome of the meeting would be communicated to Col. Bainsla and it was expected that he would take a positive step forward and send his delegation to Jaipur for the third round of talks.

Meanwhile, the Gujjar agitation entered the 13th day today. The Delhi-Mumbai rail section is blocked as the dharna of Gujjar protestors continues on railway tracks in Pilupura. The Jaipur-Agra national highway is also blocked.
