India and China will hold their border talks in New Delhi tomorrow.

This will be 22nd meeting of the Special Representatives of both the countries to discuss the Boundary Question.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang told the media in Beijing today that talks will focus on the delimitation of the border, boundary management and a host of bilateral and international issues.

A release from Ministry of External Affairs said that the Indian delegation will be led by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval while the Chinese side will be led by State Councillor and Foreign Minister of People’s Republic of China Wang Yi.

This will be the first meeting of the Special Representatives between the two countries since the 2nd Informal Summit between Prime Minister Modi and President Xi Jinping in Mamallapuram in October this year.

Our Special Correspondent in Beijing reports that the border issue, besides a host of other issues, were discussed between both the leaders during their 2nd informal summit.

Tomorrow’s talks between two Special Representatives will follow the consensus of the two leaders and will exchange views on the delimitation of the border, boundary management and practical cooperation to seek a resolution.

The two sides will also exchange views on bilateral and international issues of mutual interest.

21st round of border talks was held at Chengdu in China last year during which both sides resolved to intensify their efforts to achieve a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution to the India-China boundary question at an early date.

They emphasized the importance of approaching the boundary question from the strategic perspective of India-China relations and agreed that an early settlement of the boundary question serves the fundamental interests of both countries.

The annual SR talks are the highest official level forum with a mandate to find not only the solution to the boundary issue but also to discuss all other issues concerning the two countries. The two countries, according to the practice, hold the meetings in rotation.
