  • India’s Mars voyage in late November: ISRO Chief

    The Chairman of ISRO, Dr. Radhakrishnan has said that PSLV C 25 carrying the mars orbiter would be launched any day after October 21st. After Marsraising the orbit level, the voyage would happen between November 20 to 29.

    Speaking to newspersons at ISRO, Chairman Dr. K Radhakrishnan said that in this financial year twelve launches are scheduled INSAT 3D would be launched from French Guyana on July 25th. GSLV-D5 with GSAT communication satellite and GSAT 7 was also ready to be launched. Another remarkable satellite GSLV Mark 3 was to be launched this month from the second launch pad. IRNSS -1B is also scheduled for March 2014.

    The Chairman said that after the failure missions of three GSLV Satellites, experiments were carried out for the past three years to find out the shortcomings. He also sais that testing for higher altitude were carried out at Mahendragiri and the remedial measures were taken note of for carrying out successful launch of the indigenous built vehicles. Presently GSLV Mark 3 was scheduled for January 2014.

    Reacting to a question on ISRO’s role in disaster management with regard to the recent havoc at Uttarakand, Dr. Radhakrishnan said that ISRO had sought the help of RISAT -1 and had taken pictures of the disaster ridden areas with the aid of Cartosat -2a and Carto sat 2d.

    Dr. Radhakrishnan told that the cost of the whole project of IRNSS navigational series was estimated to be 1430 crore rupees. He also said that ISRO had advanced the number of launches every year because of the participation from the Industry. He said that at present 400 industries were working with the organisation for various projects.
