  • Major political parties favour united Andhra with empowered Telangana region

    Majority of the political parties present in Thursday’s meeting have favoured the sixth option of keeping a united Andhra Pradesh with social, economic and political empowerment of the Telangana region as prescribed in the Srikrishna Committee report. Mr. K.S. Rao a Congress MP who attended Thursday’s meeting said that he was in favour of United Andhra Pradesh.

    However, another Congressman and MLA Uttam Kumar Reddy said that he was for the option of bifurcation of the state into Telangana and Seemandhra with Hyderabad as the capital of Telangana.

    The Praja Rajyam party leader C. Ramachandraiah has said that all stake holders in the state should get equal benifit of the development of the region.

    State General Secretary of CPI(M) B.V. Raghavulu said that party is firm on their stand of one state.

    However senior party leader Sitaram Yechury said that the party will take a view on the issue only after the government takes a final decision on the issue. On the other hand, K. Narayana of CPI said that the delay in decision by the government will only complicate the issue.
