Mathura; In Uttar Pradesh, five policemen have been suspended in Mathura on charges of allegedly deserting SP (City), Mukul Dwivedi, who was lynched by the violent mob of Swadheen Bharat Subhash Sena (SBSS) activists at Jawahar Bagh on June 2nd. SSP Bablu Kumar confirmed the action against the guilty policemen saying it was prima facie found that they deserted the officer.
Departmental action has been initiated against Bhupendra Singh, Kaushlendra Kumar, Rai Singh, Lalta Prasad and Pradeep Kumar, who were then posted at various Police Stations of Mathura. AIR correspondent reports that it was prima facie established that these police-men had accompanied SP City Dwivedi inside Jawahar Bagh but fled when the violent mob attacked.
The family members of slain SP had raised serious doubts as how an officer, who had 6 to 8 armed PSOs, some with AK-47 rifles, could have been lynched, in their presence. The mob allegedly had surrounded Dwivedi and beat him with lathis, while his PSOs fled the scene to save their own lives. However, more facts will come out about the whole incident when the Justice Imtiyaz Murtuza probe panel will submit its report. With Umar Quraishi from Mathura.
