  • Meeting called by District administration to ignore bandh call tomorrow

    Haflong : A meeting under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao , Amitabh Rajkhowa was convened at the DC Conference hall today to ignore the bandh call tomorrow. The meeting was held with various organizations, departmental officials, media representatives etc to make people aware about the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and Hon’ble Guwahati High Court regarding defying of bandh call by any organization.

    An order has been issued by the district administration of Dima Hasao supported by the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council stating three points that all government officials are to attend their duties normally and that any absence will be strictly dealt with as per rule, essential services like medical, milk and water supply are not to be interrupted, public transporter are also to ensure that regular service for public convenience to attend their duties. Further the order states that violation of the orders will be viewed seriously and strict action will be initiated against the defaulters as per rule.

    It is to be stated that the order was issued in wake of moment when KMSS, AJYCP and other 44 ethnic organizations have called bandh tomorrow to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill. The meetin was attended by Additional SP Pushpraj Singh, IPS, ADC Jidung, ADC Debsharma, Exe Megistrates Doley and Nobis and other department officials. Many organizations and associations attended the meeting

    Addl SP Singh has also ensured that police forces will be on vigil and expects that people of this district will not participate in these unlawful activities tomorrow. He also added that all activities will function normally in Haflong like any other day.
