  • Modi Begins Visit Of NE States Today : Imphal Twin Blasts: 3 Jawans Among 4 Injured

    Guwahati : Amid the agitations against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, PM Narendra Modi begins his two-day visit to three NE states Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura on Friday. As per government schedule, the Prime Minister to arrive in Guwahati on Friday evening. On Saturday, Modi will lay the foundation for a bridge connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati over the Brahmaputra River, for Numaligarh Refinery Ltd’s bio-diesel refinery, the Barauni-Guwahati gas pipeline. And the same day Modi to take part in Bhumi Pujon for AIIMS in Changsari and address a public rally there, besides visiting Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura. The PM will also lay the foundation stone for the airport at Hollongi in Arunachal Pradesh. In the meantime At least four individuals including three personnel of the paramilitary force Assam Rifles were injured when two powerful bomb exploded within a span of few minutes at a crowded place in the centre of capital town of Manipur Thursday evening. The incident occurred near the Imphal pologround at around 6.20 pm, and is believed to be an act of proscribed militant outfit. The three injured who were rushed to a nearby hospital are now in stable condition. Of the injured, one is a non-Manipuri, as per sources. The dual explosion is suspected to be due to grenades,said the officer. Meanwhile, security forces mostly the state police have heightened frisking and verification process due to the attack on the AR troopers.
