  • New DC , Darrang has vowed to solve vital public issues on priorities

    Mangaldai :: Darrang Deputy Commissioner Prabhati Thaosen has expressed her strong desire to look into the vital public issues of the district on priority basis . The newly joined Thaosen, the first lady Deputy Commissioner in the history of the district for the first time was interacting with the representatives of the different local scribes body including Mangaldai Media Circle, Mangaldai Press Club, Journalists Association of Assam, Kharupetia Press Club etc here in Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall on June 10 afternoon. Deputy Commissioner said that since her joining, she is giving top priorities on Covid followed by preparedness on possible flood situation and erosion.

    ” Tackling Covid was my first priority. The situation has improved significantly since my joining. However I have observed hesitancy among people for testing and vaccination. Here the media can play a key role in sensitising such people.” , said Deputy Commissioner Thaosen . She further said that preparation for possible flood and erosion were her next priorities. She regularly used to visit the sites of the breached embankments of various rivers to take stock of the repair works which she has found to be completed by now. Participating in the interaction media persons raised several vital public issues including controlling perennial flood problem at its source, glorifying the historic Pathorughat in a proper way, expediting the NH diversion work, making the mega cold storage project at Ojagaon functional, violation of norms in granting permission for construction of multi storied buildings in Mangaldai town , preservation of the heritage water bodies , tanks of the district including Raja Pukhuri tank under Dalgaon revenue circle, proper care of the child issues including the growing cases of child marriage related to parameter indexes defined by the Niti Aayog for aspirational district, illegal encroachment government land , artificial flood , unscientific drainage system and illegal practice of milk adulteration among others. The Deputy Commissioner while giving a patient hearing to the issues vowed to address them on a priority basis. Additional Deputy Commissioners Pankaj Kr Deka and Sanjeeb Kr Bora along with District Public Relation Officer Ayan Hazarika were also present on the occasion.
