State Government requests Centre to reject present Assam NRC

Mangaldai : An orientation workshop for PRI members including GP secretaries and staff of the intervention four GPs namely Chamuapara, Chapai, Dahi and Ramhari under Paschim Mangaldai Development Block has been organised by MAMTA-HIMC, Darrang here on Wednesday under its on-going project MANCH (Maternal Adolescent Neonatal Child Health) under ITC Mission Sunehra Kal with an objective to share its outcome of activities and to support the GPs in preparing a good Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP). In the programme, the presidents, secretaries, GRS (Gram Rojgar Sevak) and other staff members from the said GPs were present.In the programme, high emphasis was given on convergence & collective action for preparing a comprehensive Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) for the financial year 2020-21 in the intervention GPs.
The day long workshop began with the welcome address from Kangkan Kr Saikia, the District Coordinator of MAMTA-HIMC. In his address he said ,”Out of the total 29 sectors of 11th Schedule, there are many sectors where the NGOs can provide contribution to fill up the gaps with collective support from GP, Line Departments, community and NGOs.” He also said that the MAMTA-HIMC through its project MANCHunder ITC Mission Sunehra Kal has been working among the community for system strengthening & community development in the intervention GPs and hence could play an important role in preparing an effective GPDP by providing support to the concerned GPs. “The NGOs working in the district of Darrang viz. MAMTA-HIMC & SeSTA under ITC MSK has been working jointly in Ramhari GP in cooperation and support of PRI members and staff in preparing a quality GPDP through participatory process by involving all stakeholders matching people’s needs and priorities with available resources.” , Coordinator Saikia further added.
On the other hand Program Associate Basanta Kumar Nath narrated on the areas of GPDP preparation, 29 sectors of 11th schedule, financial resources enveloped for GPDP, plan cycle of GPDP and steps of GPDP preparation. He also shared his experiences of his recent exposure visit to two model GPs of Chobbis Paragona district namely Ramganga and Digambarpur model in West Bengal. He also explained how both the GPs with their own effort managed to raise their own sources of revenues which were used in innovative developmental activities in the said GPs. Several participating PRI members and GP Secretaries including Bijurani Bhatta and Ranjit Das, presidents of Chapai & Ramhari GPs respectively and Binita Barua, Secretary of Ramhari took part in the discussion on the proposed plans & ideas of their GPs for the GPDP.
